Our Program
Our Breeding Philosophy
At Glacier French Bulldogs of Montana, our dogs are family first. We are a small, family-based breeding program in beautiful Northwest Montana, near Glacier National Park, and we raise only a limited number of thoughtfully planned litters.
Our goal is to produce healthy, well-structured French Bulldogs with wonderful temperaments who will become loved members of their families. We carefully plan each pairing with health, genetics, structure, temperament, and compatibility in mind—not simply color or appearance.
Our puppies are raised right in our home as part of our everyday lives, with individual attention, handling, socialization, and lots of love from the very beginning. Because we keep our program small, we're able to truly know our dogs and puppies and give each litter the time and attention it deserves.
For us, raising French Bulldogs isn't just about producing beautiful puppies. It's about making thoughtful breeding decisions, giving every puppy the best start we can, and raising companions who will bring laughter, love, and comfort to their families every day.
Health & Thoughtful Pairings
Every breeding is carefully planned using the health, DNA, structure, temperament, and genetics of both parents. We DNA test our breeding dogs and use those results to make informed pairing decisions, including making sure two dogs are not paired in a way that could produce puppies affected by the recessive genetic conditions we screen for.
A dog who carries a recessive gene is not necessarily affected by that condition. By understanding the genetics of both parents, we can make responsible pairing decisions while preserving the qualities we value in our French Bulldogs.
We also look beyond DNA. Temperament, structure, overall health, pedigree, and the strengths each parent can bring to a litter are all part of our decision-making process.
Raised in Our Home
Our puppies are born and raised in our home—not in a separate kennel. From their earliest days, they receive individual attention and become accustomed to the sights, sounds, and activity of everyday family life. Puppies are held from the moment they are born.
As they grow, puppies experience age-appropriate household noises, people, other dogs, different surfaces, play, and plenty of affection. We want them to leave us comfortable being part of a family because that's exactly how they've been raised.
Early Neurological Stimulation & Early Scent Introduction
We incorporate Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) during the appropriate developmental period.
ENS uses a series of brief, gentle exercises designed to introduce young puppies to mild, controlled stimulation. ESI introduces puppies to a variety of scents while allowing us to observe their individual responses.
These are only a small part of how we raise our puppies. They are followed by continued handling, enrichment, socialization, play, and new experiences as the puppies grow.
Socialization & Preparing for Family Life
Socialization isn't something we do once—it happens throughout the time our puppies are with us.
As they become ready for new experiences, we gradually introduce them to normal household activity, different people, other dogs, new sounds and surfaces, handling, toys, and age-appropriate challenges.
We want our puppies to be curious and comfortable exploring their world while also learning that people are a source of safety, affection, and fun.
Every puppy develops at his or her own pace, so we pay attention to the individual puppy rather than expecting every puppy in a litter to respond exactly the same way.
Matching Our Puppies With Their Families
Finding the right home is important to us, but so is finding the right puppy for that home.
As our puppies grow, their individual personalities begin to emerge. Some are adventurous and outgoing, some would rather cuddle, and others are somewhere in between. We spend enough time with our puppies to get to know those differences.
We listen to what each family is hoping for—including personality, lifestyle, sex, color, and other preferences—and work with them to find the puppy we believe will be the best fit.
While we do our best to honor preferences, we always reserve the right to retain a puppy from any litter for our own breeding program.
Our Commitment Doesn't End at Go-Home
Sending our puppies home is exciting, but our relationship with their families doesn't end there.
Every Glacier Frenchie leaves with a one-year health guarantee, veterinary records, AKC registration paperwork, care information, and the supplies we've chosen to help make the transition to a new home easier.
Most importantly, our families have lifetime breeder support. We love hearing how our puppies are doing as they grow, seeing their pictures, and being available when their families have questions.
Once you've taken home a Glacier Frenchie, you'll always be part of our extended Frenchie family.
